Bookbinding and print
Walter Newbury are one of the few remaining companies which retain the traditional skills of edge gilding and marbling. They also specialises in conservation and restoration. For over a century their reputation for Quality, Craftsmanship and Knowledge has led to commissions at the highest levels.
They have bound printed material for the Royal Family and Parliament. They have also bound special treaties in chieftain leather for Nato and special visitors books bound in crocodile skin with engraved gold ingots for the Sultan of Brunei.
After a century in their original East London premises they wanted us to give them a sensitive re-brand ready for their upcoming move. Starting with a logo that reflected their origins and craft, but one that also reflected exciting times ahead and to sit well with their 21st century technology.
We researched historical printing symbols and colours and reworked them into modern day graphic design concepts to present Walter Newbury with a logo that was contemporary, whilst keeping one eye on the past. This logo and colour scheme has now formed the first part of their re-branding.
Managing Director, Glen says… From day one my partners and I were very impressed with the way Square Balloon went about their business. They were sympathetic to our history and really understood not only where we came from, but just as important, where we needed to go.
Other work we did with Walter Newbury Ltd
We initially started working with Walter Newbury initially when they required some "we are moving" cards to move to their new premises. We used some old photos that they provided us of their original working conditions all those years ago when they first had their premises. This simple job lead to us creating the logo, the letterhead, and a new invoice for them.
